Fueling the Corridor: Tetracore Energy Commissions New Auto CNG Station in Uwusan, Benin

BENIN CITY — In a major expansion of Nigeria’s gas-to-transport infrastructure, Tetracore Energy Group (TEG) officially commissioned a new Auto Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station in Uwusan, Benin City, on April 7, 2026.

The facility is strategically positioned to serve the high-traffic logistics and industrial corridors of Edo State, marking a significant milestone in the company’s mission to provide affordable, cleaner energy alternatives to conventional petrol and diesel.

The Uwusan station is the latest addition to Tetracore’s growing network of gas assets, aimed at lowering operational costs for fleet owners and supporting Nigeria’s broader energy transition goals.

The Uwusan Station: At a Glance

The new facility is engineered to handle high-volume commercial and industrial demand, focusing on mass transit systems, heavy-duty trucks, and corporate fleets.

  • Installed Capacity: 120,000 SCMD (Standard Cubic Metres per Day).
  • Refueling Capability: Designed to fuel up to 200 vehicles daily.
  • Target Users: Mass transit buses, logistics trucks, and commercial CNG-powered vehicles.
  • Strategic Value: Acts as a critical refueling node along the Benin axis, connecting industrial clusters in the South-South to the rest of the country.

Strategic Integration: Mother Stations and “Daughter” Outlets

Tetracore’s expansion in Benin follows a “corridor-based” infrastructure model. By strategically placing “daughter” stations (like Uwusan) near high-demand logistics hubs, the company ensures that gas-powered vehicles never face “range anxiety” on major Nigerian highways.

Coming Soon: The Benin Mother Station During the commissioning, Tetracore confirmed that a dedicated CNG Mother Station for the Benin axis is currently under development. Once onstream in the coming months, this mother station will:

  • Enhance Supply Reliability: Provide a centralized compression hub to feed multiple daughter stations across the region.
  • Increase Network Efficiency: Reduce the logistical costs of transporting compressed gas, further lowering the pump price for end-users.
  • Position Benin as a Energy Hub: Solidify Edo State’s role as a primary artery for gas-powered mobility in West Africa.

The CEO’s Vision: A Resilient Energy Network

Speaking at the event, the President and CEO of Tetracore Energy Group, Dr. Olakunle Williams, emphasized that the move is part of a deliberate, long-term strategy to industrialize the Nigerian economy through gas.

“We are not simply deploying stations—we are building a resilient energy network that enables industries, transport operators, and businesses to transition to cleaner, more efficient fuel at scale. This station is a deliberate step in our strategy to scale gas-powered mobility across Nigeria.” — Dr. Olakunle Williams, April 2026.

Economic Impact: Slashing Transport Costs

The commissioning of the Uwusan station comes at a time when traditional fuel prices remain a significant burden for Nigerian businesses.

  • Cost Predictability: CNG offers a significantly lower and more stable price point than petrol, allowing logistics companies to provide more competitive shipping rates.
  • Industrial Synergy: The station supports the nearby Utesi Industrial Park, where Tetracore already operates a 40 MMscfd City Gate Facility, providing a seamless energy ecosystem for manufacturers.
  • Job Creation: The project has contributed to the over 2,000 direct and indirect jobs created by Tetracore across its Nigerian operations, spanning engineering, maintenance, and logistics.

Tetracore Energy

In 2026, Tetracore Energy is proving that the “Gas Revolution” is about more than just supply—it’s about access.

With the commissioning of the Uwusan station and the upcoming mother station in Benin, the company is effectively “piping” the benefits of Nigeria’s vast natural gas reserves directly into the fuel tanks of the nation’s commercial fleet.
